~ rest ~

Monday, April 16, 2012 - I first posted this last week, but I am adding this comment today:

Rest is something I am craving lately, for a variety of reasons,
reasons that do not matter for this post;
for what matters is that

Christ alone promises to give me,
to give all who ask, the rest we need.

This is what I am thinking on this week,
being reminded that there is nothing in this world that
Christ cannot do,
and He will give me rest.
He promises.

So very thankful for this promise...so ashamed of the many times I haven't done this first...

Our sermon this week was about the story of the father that brought his boy to Jesus for healing of the demon living in him. SOme of the Scripture: But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”

A little different from the rest we seek but I thought of this when you wrote that there is nothing in this world that Christ cannot do.

I am holding on to that for a changed heart in some dear to me.

I love the sign you made! Thanks you for sharing!

Thinking of you this weekend, Laurie. I know you will receive the rest you need.

I've been hearing the call, too. I've been preparing words for others. Now I need to rejuvenate myself--to allow God's word to me bring rest. We separate spiritual rest from physical rest, but I think it goes hand in hand. When our souls are resting I find it easier to rest my body. Thank you for this!
