In Irene's Wake

I know a few of my blogging friends live along the east coast...

and it may be that many of you are dealing with the aftermath of Irene.

My prayers are with you as you recover,
and the Lord is always with you.

Keeping in touch

Things have been quite hectic lately, what with packing and all that goes with moving,
and today I took a few moments to peek at Pinterest and I found this:

makes me want to burst into song!

It almost made me cry, because the last couple of days have been taxing
due to the process of selling our home - not all is going smooth,
but we are aware that we are blessed that it still is selling, we think, no matter
the drama that goes with that.

Maybe tomorrow I will take a break and spend it with the Sound of Music
gang, just to remember a few of my favorite things.

In the meantime, I will try to stop by and visit a few of your blogs when I can
and I apologize when I cannot.

I may have already posted this,
but His promises are worth repeating...

And so that I don't take all of the twists and turns of selling and moving
too seriously, I leave you with this...

Sale Pending & Packing Progress

It is now time to kick it up a notch, as we have a couple who want to buy our house!
It will be a few weeks before we close, but it is time to get serious about tossing,
recycling, donating and packing the keepers to put into storage. The tricky part is, we
will be living with Erin and Co. for a couple of months, so we will be packing most
everything and putting it all in storage.

So, you may be thinking,
"Why are you blogging when you should be packing?"

Good question! You see, it has been a couple of weeks since I've packed
anything, and I have to get back into "packing" mode. So yesterday I began by filling a bag
with trash and a couple of  bags of clothes to donate.
My heart wasn't really in it, because it was a much cooler
day and I wanted to savor time on the front porch.
Good excuse?!

So, Erin and the boys came over this morning to help me get a few boxes packed,
thinking 2 heads are better than 1,
and this is one of the results of that adventure:

We started with 2 empty boxes.....

that suddenly sprouted feet!

Oh, my, there are arms and legs
and even a smile!

Eli and Jack, my Packing Helpers!

Before we knew it, it was lunchtime and then
the boys and their mom were off to the pool.

I know I will have to get serious about packing soon,
but I'm glad we just had fun laughing and visiting.
It was cool enough this morning to sit on the front porch
and visit with Erin, sipping coffee that Sara got us on her way
to check out her new classroom.

More about that on another post.

And maybe a few pirate photos
of a 3-year old little girl.

Stay tuned!

Thankful Thursday ~ God's Provision

It has been several months since I have posted for Thankful Thursday,
and I have had much to be thankful for, but today I simply want to thank God for
His provision. Throughout these past few months, we have made some big decisions,
and the biggest decision was to sell our home and downsize.

I've written plenty about this, so I won't go into it more,
but I am so very thankful that our God keeps each and every
one of His promises, and He promises to always
provide for our needs.

I could make a list of all He has provided for me and my family,
but it would be a very long list. As I look at the picture below,
I feel the peace that comes from trusting in God's timing and knowing...

 He will provide.

Let's get excited about bathroom fixtures!

The hole has been dug for our new cottage, and the details are all picked out,
inside and outside. In fact, I made a few changes today just under the wire
before the order went in. Here are a few items...

Bancroft? pedestal lavatory
This is the pedestal sink for the powder room.We have pedestal sinks
in both of our current baths, but this will be the only one in the new house.
I love how traditional it looks!

This is the sink that will go into the vanity of the master bath. We did
a standard choice there so that we could get the pedestal.

And this is the faucet that will go in both baths.
I love how it looks, traditional yet updated.

I don't have a picture of the vanity, but it will be a simple, shaker style
in a pearl finish, a white with a little subtle color, sort of between white and vanilla.
The same cabinets will be in the kitchen.

The pulls for both the kitchen and master bath are these:

Aren't they a bit funky?
At first, we picked a more traditional like this...

but we finally went with a more updated look.

I am hoping to pull off a mix of updated traditional with
antiques, with a neutral background and touches of color,
such robin's egg blue.

Something like these...

and this...

Yes, He is!

Chorus to God is Good All the Time
by Don Moen

God is good all the time
He put a song of praise in this heart of mine
God is good all the time
Through the darkest night, His light will shine
God is good, God is good all the time
