Think on These Things ~ Snip, Snip, Snip

I recently got my haircut ~
snip, snip, snip...
Kirbi cut away expertly with her scissors,
trimming the faded color that I can't wait to be rid of,
exposing more of the silver-gray underneath ~
snip, snip, snip...

She must be at least 30 years younger than I am,
but the task at hand gives us a common goal,
to cut away the old, making room for that which is growing,
letting the new growth bounce back with shape and style.
Snip, snip, snip.

This reminds me of when I have to cut back plants in our garden
when they get too leggy and scraggly,
snip, snip, snip

trimming the faded blooms and old stems,
and exposing the new growth that holds the promise
of fresh beauty and giving back the plant its
beautiful shape and style.

Snip, snip, snip.

Sometimes God has do a little snipping in our lives,
trimming away that which is causing us to" fade" His place in our lives.
You know, when we spend more time in pursuit of our own happiness,
replacing time with Him in His word and in prayer with time doing _____________.
(Enter your own replacement activities. My list would be shamelessly long at times.)

But He loves us so much that He snips away the distractions and reveals to us
His good and perfect will for us.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is
His good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:2

Snip away Lord! We all need to make room for the new, don't we Laurie? I love your analogy with growing plants too. I know as I'm learning to care for roses, I have to be careful to cut back properly. But I love to see new blooms come back even fuller and better. This was good to ...think on these things.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

These are things worth thinking upon. Thanks Laurie for the encouragement to prune back and accept being pruned back by God's loving hand as he only wants to make something more beautiful of us. Thank you as well for stopping over to leave me such encouraging words about my cards. Those who serve have a special place in my heart.

Your post reminds me of when the Lord told me He was the gardener and we are His garden. He prunes each and every one of us so that we will bloom! If he doesn't prune us we would decay and wither! Patsy from

I have been focused on the scripture you used in your post, "the renewing of your mind", it is a task I have to keep reminding myself to renew my mind. I think you helped me to remember it again. I'm a new follower, too.

Blessings,
Darlene

These thoughts are so on my mind as I work in the garden this time of year. So clear to see how improved the plant is and how much better it does when pruned. The illustration with a hair cut is great as well.

I feel like I am constantly trying to eliminate activities that put me out of balance with God's will.

Visiting with you always directs my thoughts to things above :) Thank you for linking to Think on These Things!

Kindly, Lorraine
