Japanese Nuclear Rescuers

March 14: A Red Cross rescue worker, in red, is scanned for signs of radiation upon returning from Fukushima to his hospital in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture.

Japan's Nuclear Rescuers: 'Inevitable Some of Them May Die Within Weeks'

This is the headline today on Fox News, and the article is hard to read. The mother of one of the workers spoke to Fox News through her tears concerning the situation for these 50 personnel. You may want to follow the link to read the article, but more than anything else, we must continue to pray for these 50 as well as the thousands affected by this tragedy. Only God knows what the end result will be for this nuclear tragedy, as well as for those whose homes were damaged or washed away by the earthquake and tsunami. Please also keep those who lost loved ones in your prayers and may have been left with no one or no place to live. it is God's desire that no one may perish but have eternal life.

Closer to Christ's Image

What has your day been like? Did it go as planned, with no unexpected events? For most of us, even best-laid plans have a way of getting sidetracked or even derailed. A friend of mine recently lost her sister after an illness, and I can imagine that her days and her family's days are far different than what they had planned. There will always be an empty chair at the table or a phone call that cannot take place in my friend's life here on earth. How she must look forward to their reunion in Heaven!

Or perhaps you have had the pleasure of a surprise in your life, something you've prayed for and put in Gods hands for many years, and then suddenly,  your prayers were answered and you were overjoyed. After several years of prayer,  the Lord brought back both of our daughters and their families to live close by. My husband and I are so enjoying the joy of our time together, and we thank  Him and praise Him for bringing them back.

Good days, bad days... we all have them. We have the promise of the Lord that everything that happens to us will be  used by Him for a good purpose. That "good" is that which conforms us to "the likeness of His Son", and even though the "bad" isn't pleasant to go through, without the bad there would be no refining of us to be Christlike.

Just like Christ, who suffered on the cross for our sake and our salvation, we may learn obedience and be conformed more and more to His image. And I love the promise God gives us in Philippians 1:6:

...being confident of this,
that he who began a good work in you
will carry it on to completion
until the day of Christ Jesus.
Phil.1:6

All of this refining, all of the good days and the  not-so-good days will someday result in those who love Christ Jesus to be like Him, and the "Son might hold the position of highest honor in the great family of God." *

We may not always understand why we have times of joy
and times of sorrow; but we can trust in God and His promises.

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror;
then we shall see face to face.
Now I know in part; then I shall know fully,
even as I am fully known.
1 Corinthians 13:12

*NIV footnote, Rom. 8:29
I was inspired by a devotional on Hebrews 5:8 and Romans 8:28-29, by Pastor David Jeremiah, to write this post.

Happy Birthday, E-L-I !

March 22nd was Eli's third birthday, and when asked what he wanted for his birthday, he said, "Gum."
Yep, just gum.

No matter what else was suggested, he "stuck" (pun intended) with his answer.
It eventually turned into, "Gum cake."

So his mom, Erin, rose to the occasion and found bubble gum flavoring, and on his birthday we made a yellow cake and added the gum flavoring. It was, shall we say, different, but it did taste like gum, and he loved it.
All of the kids loved it.
Eli and Maya helped decorate it with gumballs, and he was rather pleased with it all.

Thank you, Father, for blessing us all
with this precious little boy, Eli Lawrence Dailey.
His bright blue eyes always have a twinkle
to go with his mischievous grin,
and his sweet hugs and kisses are worth the chase.
He loves to spell his name: E-L-I, and

He loves and follows after Jack, a worthy Big Brother.
He loves to sing, "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,"
and he prays every day for his Grandmamma
and Happy Pappy, who live far away.
He loves his mommy and daddy so very much.
We thank you for them and for their patience
and love for this sweet little boy,
who now tells us he is a "Big Boy!"

Happy 3rd Birthday,
Eli Lawrence Dailey!!

A boy is trust with dirt on it's face,
beauty with a cut on it's finger,
wisdom with bubble gum in it's hair,
and the hope of the future with a frog in it's pocket.

A boy is the only thing God can use to make a man.
Boys are God's way of telling you that your house is too neat!

What do you delight in?

What do you delight in?
Is it buying something new for your house? Do you delight in fresh baked cookies, warm from the oven?
When it comes to people, I greatly delight spending time with family and friends.

But when thinking about things, I delight in the sight of terra cotta pots, empty on the shelves. My eyes widen, I hold my breath, and my heart catches in my throat. I have quite a nice collection of pots on the shelves in my little corner of our garage; nothing fancy, but a variety of sizes and many aged with moss.  I do not know if I delight in just the pots themselves or the promise of beauty yet to come; that which I so hope for as spring nears and warm breezes melt the snow.

But flower pots are, after all, just worldly goods, and I know that they break easily.

The pots will not last forever.

But my relationship with Christ will, and I so delight in this knowledge.
I delight in spending time with Him, sitting at His knee in prayer
or in reading his Word. I delight singing His praises.
I delight in sharing Him with others, especially with my grandchildren.

It is when I delight in Him and spend time with Him that I have all my heart desires,
for the rest ~ family, home, love and contentedness come from this.

"Delight yourself
in the Lord,
and He will give you
the desires
 of your heart."
Psalm 37:4

WFW ~ Children of God

See what great love the Father has lavished on us,
that we should be called children of God!
And that is what we are!
1 John 3:1a

It is easy to be distracted by the things of this world and forget who we belong to ~
the One and Only God, creator of the universe and the One who formed us and
lavishes His love on us! Lavished - I  love that. Let's remember today and in the days
ahead, that we are children of God!

Fill your cup with the Word at the Internet Cafe!

(I have missed participating in Word-filled Wednesday,
but I have not done so because I find it hard to visit the blogs
of other participants and to reply to comments I may receive.
But I am going to try to join in again, because I miss reading
Godly wisdom of the Word others share. It is a unique way to
worship and praise our Lord in fellowship with othe Christians.)

Mila's Daydreams

I just think it is adorable and wanted to share it.  Adele Enersen will have a book published
in 2012 with the photos in it. You may read about why she did this blog on her blog, Mila's Daydreams.
All I can say is, my babies and grandbabies never slept that sound!

(I came across pictures from this blog Mila's Daydreams, on Tumblr, (where it didn't belong, however)
and I just had to share the video that was posted on her (Adele Enersen's) blog and may be
shared. (It's on YouTube) She does ask that we do not use her copyrighted pictures without permission,
and that is why they shouldn't have been circulating on Tumblr, although the photographer's
name and copyright are shown. Perhaps the original post was given permission, but I don't think
it should be circulating. Some may see this as ok, but, still, she is clear about use on her blog.
It is ok to post ABOUT her blog if a link back is done.
(Also, see Behind the Blog link.)

Brother Love ~ Just for Fun

No, these are not my grandsons, but I can relate to this.
I have 2 grandsons as well as 3 brothers of my own.
My daughter told me about this video on YouTube,
and I just had to share it. Perhaps you have already seen it, but
it is new to me, and I had a good laugh watching it.

The family was updated on this website last summer( update),
and the video has had several million hits. They are from England and the video
and follow ups are quite well known there.

I love Charlies' knowing looks and his brother Harry's
obvious love for Charlie even though he bites him!
Brother Love!

A friend loves at all times,
and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

Spring Color on a Winter Day!

I found these great polka dot photos at The Cottage Chick and made
a collage of them. They came from Country Living, and I love
how they bring a burst of spring color to my day.

Have a wonderful, color-filled weekend!
