"I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows Me
will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life."
John 8:12
Growing up on a farm in the midwest, fireflies were a common sight on summer evenings. We called them lightning bugs, and we loved to catch them and put them in a jar, fascinated by their mysterious glow. We do not see fireflies where we live now, and it is something I miss showing to our grandchildren.
But there is a light that shines everywhere, no matter your physical location, because it is the light that lights the way for life, the Light of Jesus. He is the Light of the world, and as His followers, we reflect the light that shines from Him to the world.

Such a sweet image! We call them lightning bugs too and they still fascinate me as they flicker above the grass. I never thought they were indigenous to certain areas. Perfect verses!
That is so cute. Yes, I remember catching those lightning bugs too. I see a few around here now. Thank God for His marvelous light.
What a sweet graphic for this scripture, Laurie!
We did the same thing with lightening bugs when I was a child...and my grandchildren enjoy it, too....
How lovely to have fireflies fluttering all around me!
Great picture!
Oh, Laurie! I just love this...I agree, "lightening bugs" were a huge part of my childhood, too!

What a wonderful photo and such an encouraging Bible verse! We fairly new to the Eastern side of the US - on the coast we had a few lightning bugs. Here in Kentucky - a TON. Nighttime activities for grandparents and their grandchildren become a time of wonder here, that's for sure! :)
Such a humble and sweet WFW!! I love the image you choose!!! Thanks for sharing!! Happy WFW!!
I will forever follow His light.
OK Laurie, now I cannot get that song out of my head. LOL. It's such a good song though so that's ok.
Love and blessings,
Debbie
I don't think I have ever seen a firefly but I am happy to be one and just to shine.
I have only seen fireflies once that I know of, it would be special to have them around regularly.
Precious, linking the fireflies with the light verse and song..... yes, let our lights shine.
Hugs and Blessings - jan
